Images and Video Boost Your Search Engine Ranking


A great way to improve search engine rank as well as attract visitors to your page is by having great image and video content. In terms of universal search, images and video have a great chance of making an appearance. A study done by Searchmetrics reveals that video and image content appear frequently and is the best way of making it to the top results in a search engine returns page.

When you input a search term, you’ll notice that image results often show up between, and sometimes even above, webpage results. This is because the search engine believes that ther images are more relevant compared to the results below it, which just proves how important images are. Of course, they should be properly optimised so they can show up in search engine results. This can be done by adding alt tags, optimising the filename of the image, and using relevant keywords in its description.

Videos are just as important. Just like images, video results can show up higher than other results if they are deemed more relevant. Optimising videos is done similarly as the images. Furthermore, videos have a viral element, which means that more views and popularity can help make a video more visible in search engine results pages.
